Desperation vs Inspiration

Desperation and inspiration are both different forms of motivators. One is caused by fear, whereas the other comes from a place to pursue betterment. Unfortunately, most people are motivated by scarcity and fear. People work in 9 to 5 jobs because they are afraid that if they start their own business, it might fail. They feel safe in the security the job provides, and they work because they worry about putting food on the table.

On the other hand, there is a different category of people, ones inspired by a better tomorrow. I would put world-class athletes and CEOs in these categories. It would appear that their lives are full of uncertainty and even appear so brittle that everything might end for them overnight. This may be true, but ironically it is just as true for someone working in a 9 to 5 job, they are just unaware of this fact. After all, if a CEO makes a wrong decision and the company fails, everyone working in that company loses their jobs. So is it not better to have such control, than to leave it up in the hands of another? As a friend once told me, it really is a "risk it all, take it all" mentality.

I believe that inspiration is a much more healthy mentality because it focuses on abundance. People in this category tend to focus on creating and giving value to the world, making the world a better place.

On the other hand, people that are motivated by scarcity and fear, they tend to focus on competition and taking. They step over others to put food on their table.

You could compare it to creating jobs vs taking a job from someone else. This may be an oversimplification, however, it is pretty much the gist of what I'm trying to say.

On the bright side, I believe that the world is heading in the direction where it is creating more and more entrepreneurs and business owners every day. New technologies allow us to leverage manpower to the extreme, and these days, what would have required 100 manpower can be easily done by one person.

Therefore it is common to see one person companies and businesses every day now.
